Given
that expenses were back in the news last week on Channel 4, in relation to MP’s
renting out accommodation they owned in London, and, then renting alternative accommodation
to charge to their expense account, I thought I would have another look at the
expenses data. The period I have
analysed is the nine months to December, 2014, however it should be noted that
this may not exactly cover a nine month period, because it relies on MP’s
submitting their expense claims on the dot.
In reality it looks to cover the expenses over a period of 7 to 8
months. The total amount of expenses
claimed for this period is £14.6m, and, for a start I thought I would just have
some fun and analyse the top 20 expenditure types. This equates to £12.2m, around 83% of the
expenses claimed.
